* The Lakes and Ponds - There are about 10 man-made lakes and ponds that distributed around the gardens.
* Maxwell Hill (Bukit Larut) - Is a hill station with an altitude of about 1000 m. This place is an ideal for jungle-trekking and camping activities. It is accessible by four-wheel drives and accommodation is available on the hill-top. There is no booking ahead, and visitors will have to go early at 8am in the morning to buy tickets for the day. Visitors have to specify what time they want to go up and what time to come down and it cost RM4.00 (US$1.40) per person round trip. If you are adventurous, you can option to hike up, which takes an average 2hrs 45 minutes (1 way), whereas the jeep journey takes 25 minutes only.
* Tulips garden - Located at Bukit Larut, it is the first tulips farm established in Malaysia. The entrance to the tulip farm is RM1 (US$0.35) for non-tulip season and RM2 (US$0.70) during tulip season.
* Taiping Zoo and Night Safari Taiping - This is the first zoo to be established in Malaysia. Packed at weekends with day-trippers from out of town.
o Daytime zoo: adults RM12, child (3 to 12 years) RM8 (US$2.80), discounts available for school groups, senior citizens (55+), tourist groups (20+ pax); open 08:30-18:00, feeding times 10am and noon.
o Night safari: adults RM16, child (3 to 12 years) RM10 (US$3.50), discounts available for senior citizens (55+) and tourist groups (20+ pax); open 20:00-23:00, except closes at midnight on Saturdays and eve of public holidays.
